hey thelostmen, the pilot of the penitent engine actually is a condemed criminal that has been chained and connected to the engine and now desires only death in battle. hence the name Penitent Engine.

@TheFingerbuns actually, no. In the tabletop they're essentially fluff units. Designed to get in combat with the closest enemy before they can get shot down--which they will very easily since they don't even have half the armor of Dreadnaughts.

And that's the whole point behind them. They're more designed to help keep the faith than they are to fight a battle. If they had the survivability of a Dreadnaught, then there'd be no point in strapping heretics to them as a punishment.

It's probably more recently assembled and upkept then the ancien dreadnoughts. Especially due to the Ecclesiarchy's ties to the inquisition, they probably can requisition a fair amount of tech-priests to help with upkeep.

For anyone who hasn't played soulstorm, these things are awesome.  Tier 4 walker, stronger then a dreadnought, and they cover ground scary fast.

righteo. tyranids are not in this game because relic and GW agreed that the game engine wouldnt do the tyranids justice. tyranids are more likely to come out later since they require alot mroe programming due to various limbs etc. Also the 'ordo' section now comes out in a set order. 'hereticus, malleus then xenos' OS the next expansion will feature proper grey knights not the soppy ones the sm have atm.
