its a plane thats moving away... and they are the plains trails that u see with the setting sun shining off them... the reson you have probably seen the same thing again is that planes use the same flight paths and it is giving the same effect each evening. Also, as it is moving away from your posistion it seems that it infact stationary in the sky giving the effect it is higher in altitude than it actually is.

I too did some research on the bizarre site.. and found a video of what people in Peru was a falling meteor off the coast. However it has two trails.. so they believe its something more mundane. I believe its the same sight you are seeing in Auckland. Now Peru is 6,685 miles due northeast from you. On a clear day.. it is entirely possible that you saw the same sight as they did in Peru, reflecting sunlight off the trails. The human eye can see into an unlimited distance as long as there is light

Look, if it wasnt for the fact i just watched a vid of the same exact thing from someone in south america in the same exact position in the sky i might also say its a plane. If this person posts another vid of it then hes onto something, we'll know then.

ok i thought id just say i seen the same thing today in salome AZ n may i point out that it became visable little after the sun had set, n also it was only visable for about 5 min then it just dissapered n it neaver moved by the way so i think its somthing to take into consideration when u watch all of these type of vids notice how there all after the sun sets, our minds are made to rationalize things like that with things we know of here so if u want to believe its an air plane koo...

it did look like contrails at first but then it looked more like something on entry to earths atmosphere, and i think most meteors have 2 trails because on entry to the atmosphere they heat up on both sides, it just looks like 1 to the naked eye usually, unless they are huge, heres a couple more examples of meteors:

@1983noddy that may be but if thats true then why are they o9nly now seeing it? what about years past? its only been recently that they been seeing it... Keep watching and see how long you can see it for. if it is something else you shoudl still be able to see its glow even after sunset. if it is just a plane then you will only see it for about an hour. but like i said if its something else you shoudl be able to see it even past sunset.
