@OceanTango1 he did say samples to follow, but what programs to use is entirely up to you, many people like FinalCut Pro but that only works on Macintosh, for those using PC Adobe Premiere Pro is the best editing software and can handle HDV but for visual effects you will need After Effects Software. you also need a core2duo pc or quad or more as HDV needs a very powerfull computer.
