aren't those plane suppose to have skis or skids to land on those ice? a wheel is to slippery.

He has not gone through the ice, all that happened is he went through a patch of snow, look at his feet when he gets out of the plane, the snow goes upto his ankles. If that were thin ice his feet would have sunk a lot further.
