The Teaching Hospital in Jaffna is being developed at a cost of Two Billion Rupees.
Financial assistance comes from Japan. The project is being mooted on the instructions of the President and the guidance of Chief of the Uthuru Wasanthaya Task Force and Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa. The inking of the related agreement took place at the Health Ministry. Health Secretary Dr. Athula Kahandaliyanage and Hideyar Kobeyashi, Chief of the Plan Implementation and Study Group signed the agreement. Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva was present at this ceremony.
A new three-storied administrative building which will also house a wards complex, will be built. There will also be several other facilities including a Surgical Wards Complex, an ICU and a Central Laboratory Unit.
