It's OK to give up sometimes. Especially when you realize that grass isn't going to grow under that huge tree in your front yard. What to do? Mulch, of course! Mike Frattallone gives us a chip-by-chip primer.

  • OXYMORON ALERT: So, couple of things: If you are trying to preserve your tree: A) why would you put poison anywhere near the tree? B) Mulching naturally deprives weeds from sunlight (provided you have 6"-8" or more in depth) and assists in overall soil health, moisture retention, drainage capability. Why would anyone attempting to preserve the tree put plastic in the root zone and then cover it with mulch?

  • lol love the geeky glasses and electric trimmer!
