OXYMORON ALERT: So, couple of things: If you are trying to preserve your tree: A) why would you put poison anywhere near the tree? B) Mulching naturally deprives weeds from sunlight (provided you have 6"-8" or more in depth) and assists in overall soil health, moisture retention, drainage capability. Why would anyone attempting to preserve the tree put plastic in the root zone and then cover it with mulch?
