Sensory Integration Disorder

Aspie Girl, at 9-years old, discusses some of the sensory disorders that she experiences every day. When she was younger, she also had issues with balance (vestibular sense) causing: accidents, spills and car sickness. As a tot, she often greeted new people by sniffing or licking their hands; and she could detect the most minor scents like a Bloodhound. She still has a need for deep muscle-to-bone pressure to feel satiated and calm.

Shes adorable *Cause theyre boring, and theyre very loud* I think its great that the (mom?) is helping her be more aware! This proactive parenting is great for kids, I hate thinking some kids are so sheltered that they cant LIVE life as they should.

@gafgariowned most people can handle things that they dont like, with people with this disorder, those sensations can literally cause them physical pain, or make them physically ill, read on it. i didnt understand it either until i lived with someone who has it.

I have AS as well and probably had SID too. I can relate the music being so loud the walls and floors are moving. From what I've read from other people with AS, "boring" is a code word for "I'm stressed out and can't cope".

i get this sensory problem with light and lots of noise i just cant hear what people are saying as my brain do not put all the bits together ,yes i see all i dont miss nothing...jeff...

yeah when i greeted people i sniffed my hand after they shook my hand they called it they shake and sniff.and i sniffed people and touch.always faninated with hair.

same here suffered a lot at shcool til the point at lunch i had to go to the library or in a class thats how bad it got.i also hated band but i loved music and i do notice small things.and remeber a lot. except for numbers.huge fasination with repeating things maybe cause the wat it feels hate being touched and sound,smell and touch and taste upsets me alot.but never been diagnosed and i graduated class of 2010.every thing about me is touch taste feel and smell i just wonder how they miss this.
