Some years ago I didn't understand his music. But now I do. It's a great.

sounds a bit like daniel lanois...

I just discovered Mr. Frisell through Mat Chamberlain. I'm not old enough to be farmilliar with Bob Dylan's discography. So, something tells me that you're wrong.

@wriloch - something tells me no one clicked on this not knowing that dylan did the original.

Bill frisell is amazing, having said that make sure u listen to the bob dylan tune as well, this is good musically but dylans version makes you feel like none other, his words and the way he plays is unparalleled, oh and by the way...frisell's heard it through the grapevine, epic!

Is it because he's not a chops player? He's a giant in contemporary jazz though, I mean who'd they rate above him? Scott Henderson?

sorry, CompleteGuitar, No they don't. I regularly visit a few Guitar sites, including jazz-specific, and you wouldn't believe how often his name doesn't come up. In a favourite player poll on a jazz guitar site, Frisell got 3.09%,half a % in front of Lee Ritenour!$%$! He tied with Rosenwinkel. Now I've got Remedy and 2008 Live@Village Vanguard +I like most but on originality: Frisell by a mile!He is also about the only jazz guitarist who acknowledges that some songs have been written since 1950.

I've never come across such a number of intelligent and insightful comments on one board on YT before. It's as refreshing as Frisell's music, actually.
I can only add that there's something about his playing that gets all up inside of me and makes me really FEEL. And his selection of cover tunes is impeccable.

Everyone digs Bill Frisell
