Oops .. thought this was a duet with Jewel .. apparantly not!! Sorry 'bout that *lol*

Lyrics :
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I'm found
I was blind but now I see

It was grace that taught me how to live
And grace my fears relieved
How blessed, how blessed the son of God
The hours I first believed

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I'm found
I was blind but now I see

  • however well intentioned you are, and i thank you for this beautiful music, its NOT Merle and Jewel, but Merle and his then wife Bonnie Owens, this was recorded on an album called "Land Of Many Churches" a double album from 1971,Merle has always had a strong spiritual nature, and is born again with his 5th wife,, and this restless soul hs finally found, somthing he craved, peace of mind..

  • Thanks .. was never too sure about this duet anyways .. it is hard to hear the female voice clearly.

  • @Bogardrippy She still tours with him.... at least, she did 8 years ago when I saw Merle in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.....

  • I love that Bonnie Owens. She was a very talented Lady. I miss seeing her.

  • i have never found peace with god

    probably down to my work

makes it hard when u r job is to send souls rather than collect

my life my choice will see later no doubt

  • @stenlak What do you mean??

  • This is mocking with the song,if not saying other word!

  • Amazing Blonde

  • this song was cut before jewel was even born. come on... know ur music.

  • @ivanmullan3000 ...Hi Ivan, do you mean Merle is a born-again Christian now? When did that happen? How do you know? It's great if it is true. Forgive me for being skeptical about anything I find on the internet. If it is true, I hope we hear his testimonial somewhere and/or in one of his songs. He usually wears his heart on his sleeve, at least in his songs. If you have a link for that, please pass it along. Did you see Evel Knievel's testimonial at the Chrystal Cathedral with Schuller?

  • @ivanmullan3000 ...That is fantastic news that Merle has found peace with God. Do you know what happened with his first wife. He sings a song about Kern River and someone being swept away in it. It made me wonder if it was his first wife.

  • This song is all the more beautiful considering who wrote it in 1800 or so -- a former captain of a slave ship who found the right path and worked tirelessly to abolish the shame of slavery -- in 1808, England saw the light, against all odds. It was the aberrant southerners who were too stupid to find the righteous path, and fought so hard for OTHER people's abominable "right" to enslave other humans.
