This is hybrid instrument: part Tenor Guitar, part Cittern, part Mandocello, part Octave Mandolin. Built by JIm Shenk in Goshen, IN, this left the shop 7-22-09 and is still settling in. Please forgive my flubs - I'm still getting used to the 25.5" scale length after playing mandolin and mandolas (about 14" and 17"). This video was recorded using an iMac's on-board cam and mic, so quality is not great. Also, this instrument has a sound port and the mic really doesn't capture the ambience in the room that results. For an excellent rendition of the second piece, LaRoque, by Pierre Attaingnant, see see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSiOiKMoSpA

  • I like the tune, what is it?

  • @prhedst - I can't recall the first tune, an old-time fiddle tune. The second is LaRoque by Pierre Attaingnant who lived during the Renaissance period. For an excellent rendition of this piece, the video comment I just posted.

  • @prhedst - sorry, look under the description section for another link.
