This board is not the Crystal Focus electronics made by Erv Plecter @ Plecterlabs... it is the Ultrasound v2 board made by Ultrasabers.
I certainly could not decide for you--you'd have to do this yourself. I've never used the USV2, only the USV1. But... there are videos of the ultrasound board out there. Check 'em out!

One question: Are the polycarbonate blades expensive?

@guitar... no, I wouldn't say so. :) For the mostpart, you could construct a complete blade for maybe $10-$15, and buy a pre-completed one for $20-$30.
Those are rough estimates... constructing them yourself could easily be less expensive...
