When I watch this film, it sometimes seems disturbingly real (relating current events).  It's hypnotic and unique, like the movie "Sorceror". The dramatic flair of this gem is like a deadly spider crawling around you. Then when the secret of the story unveils, the spider attacks.

It will come..this beautiful film is so 'normal' that it does not make sense to a lot of people at first.Just watch it..let it sink in.I think i was about 3 when i first saw this film..at least the first time i started remembering bits of it..in dreams and so forth,in my other 'waking life'.

I had seen this movie when I was kind of young... and was surprised to see it on television at 4:30 in the morning before school started. I was so amazed... again... it was the only thing I could think about all day.

You might want to try The River (1997) by Tsai Ming-liang. I've seen more recent films on themes of memory, environment, civilisation, globalization, too, many from China, Vietnam, Iran, others by Latin American directors. Also recent English lang. documentaries and other European films. I think films with this kind of mystery and truth still exist, more than ever as development extends further, however, we must seek them out- markets don't like their questions.
