Trailer: The Voice from the Sky Serial (1930)

THE VOICE FROM THE SKY (1930) featured Hal Taliaferro as a Secret Service agent investigating the secret possessed by a crazed scientist who can project his voice all over the world. Also after the secret are a Russian spy, and the mysterious cloaked Man from Nowhere, who bore a striking resemblance to the Shadow, a character who developed just after this serial was released -- and it was released, in at least Wisconsin, Iowa, Maryland, and New York. It was the first full-talkie serial and is the rarest of them all. It was the final serial for producer/director Ben Wilson, who died the same year it was released. A restored version of the complete 10 chapter play in its original form will be available from the Serial Squadron in late 2008 or 2009, with narration by Allyson Malandra to summarize missing scenes.
