Jiminy! we're leaving Seattle on the "Builder" on Wednesday morning 11/9/11 been watching it all year nearly. Ontime hasn't been the greatest, meaning our connection to "Capitol Ltd" looks a bit iffy to say the least! Wish us luck on our first trip to Washington DC...Yikes! great vid. tho!

Your trip sounded like a nightmare. I, too, have had a similar trip or two on Amtrak that I'll never forget.

LOL great video. I'm getting ready to travel the EB in a few weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed it goes better for me. :o)

Why does a country as great as America allow its passenger service railroads to go to hell the way they have?
The only reason I can come up with is the strong trucking and airline lobbyist buying all the politicians.
Although I have to say I would have found this experience quite interesting...lol. But then again I rode Navy Tankers in the North Atlantic and found that to be almost like being on Space Mountain. It was great!

Nice Video! I am sure Amtrak did the best they could to accommodate you as well as everyone else. I have had to rough trips, but I still love taking Amtrak....Especially the Builder.

Sounds like you had a GREAT (Sarcasm) trip. Did you guys get any discounts on trips or anything like that for all the trouble?

What went wrong? Did the jointed rail of north dakota keep you awake at night?

@gregtrain1 The jointed rail was the least of my problems. On the way back home to Chicago we had no dining car and the lounge ran out of food after breakfast the first morning. We had Subway for every meal all the way to Chicago. Don't get me wrong, I love Subway, but it was a little much. Also, the community shower drain froze. Luckily there was an empty sleeper with a show that we could use.
