Funny how people with incredibly amazing forehands have horrible backhands. Here's an idea...maybe they just look bad in comparison? Most pros would LOVE to have his backhand.

no that is not true. he did beat nadal.. several times, even on clay. and the several times he lost on clay, federer really had the chance to win the match.. for example 2008 Hamburg-Germany. leading first set.. lost 5-7, won the second set.. lost third set. he led 4-1 in the first set i guess.
he has to move more to hit the ball in a more comfortable position.. or try to take the ball at a lower point to play more agressive.

@travisdt i play college tennis and have a one handed... I dream of having a two handed backhand all the time. Return of serve would be much easier especially in doubles when you are returning two feet inside the baseline. high balls are tough to hit topspin unless timed very well with a one hander. But i loveee the slice and spins I can get otherwise. its good and bad at the same time

1:06 look at how late federer took his racquet back after the ball bounces. this is why fed is so great.
-
@travisdt Nah..they both have equal amounts of pros and cons, but even though I'm a 2-hander, I think 1 hander backhand is ONLY SLIGHTLY better not way better
-
2 handed backhand is more weight but less speed. so people says it is more power is wrong. it gotta be both to make it power, which is momentum or speed in tennis. look at speed of fed when he hit the ball, it is 90mph which is more than any 2-handed backhand. in additin, 1 handed backhand is better for under spin and versatile. people start out with 2handed backhand and get used to with it. change it, it takes time, but 1 handed backhand is way better

fed hits the ball quite flat and the margin for error is non-existent. Thats why he mis hits that ball so much. There is no variation to that swing, its so mechanical. Compare with Richard Gasquets backhand. Dude can vary that backhand and the margin is do much higher...

Hi Will. Where is it appropriate to make contact during a slice, out in front or to my side?
-
@nomanno It depends on the grip and the form. Also, it sounds like you are focusing on power, so try putting more spin on the ball. Don't use your arm as much. As you can see, Roger uses his body to generate the power.

thanks, it s really inspiring. thanks for posting the video, its great quality.

Federer, great backhand, but not in the same league as Gasquet or Henin. Can't have it all
on the eastern backhand grip, if my index knuckle is on first bevel but my heel pad isn't is it ok?

that's a slight variation but it's perfectly fine

Hi Will, do you think roger needs to switch to a bigger frame? maybe about a 100. he seems to be framing a lot of his shots during matches.

Not really. He's made it to what... 19 straight semi-finals in majors? He's obviously doing something right. I think people are overreacting a little bit because he's come back down to earth from his unsustainably high perch.
