@FreedomValentine, Second-Hand smoking is actually worse for you than smoking yourself since the smoke you breathe in from other people isn't filtered like it is for the people smoking.

add on 3 years if you don't smoke? what about secondary smoking? living with a smoker is as good as smoking a little bit, is it not?

I don't think just having a better self esteem adds anywhere near a 7 year gap. Probably more to do with the higher income so you can buy better food and health products.
