Stellar: 'Good to have one more dead liberal in Tim Russert'

That's just as bad as saying 'Good riddance' about Buckley. I'm a liberal and I learned about Buckley after his passing and think he was a good man.

Can't think of anything I agreed with him on, but he was a person to be respected, just as I think Russert should be.

A prolific writer and thinker. His book "Days Gone By" is very interesting, and an early book "Up From Liberalism" is still insightful some 50 years later.

A brilliant mind, a great sense of humor, an avid sailor and someone that made people think, even those who disagreed with him were always challenged by his knowledge and willingness to engage virtually anyone to pursue the clarity of thought that he himself perfected throughout his long career.

I have been a conservative my whole life but I would never say something so cruel about anyone who died (well - Hitler, Stalin). I have always thought one of the things that set conservatives apart from liberals was conservatives' civility. Let's not lose that.
