great video!! really interesting!! BUT as a Telecommunications Tech.. your punching down the wires the wrong way on the 66 block the cut always faces down.. the wires grab the block better that way and pull off easier if you need to take them off for any reason..

@TipandRing99 I would have loved to work with Krone blocks (and even brought a Krone tool with me just in case), but 66 blocks are what was available. Most of the line level wiring is balanced and much of the prewire (not all of it) that we were using for mic level wiring into the console had heatshrink on the drain wire. The line level signals should all end up being wired (through the blocks) to patches to allow for on-demand re-routing.

Eric is doing a good job but 66 blocks were never designed for stranded wire!

You can punch it down but over time your gonna have problems, The shield will eventualy break off as there is no insulation on it.

I know the Geek group relies on donations maybe somebody goud donate them an old ADC patch panel from either an old radio/tv station so they can do proer audio patching.

Great videos, nicely presented. But he uses his hands too much when it talks and sometimes distracts a bit from what he's saying. If he works on that he's going to make a very very good host/presenter.

I think there are better ways of doing the wiring. like a XLR wall....

Eric's hands are in the way during almost all of the detail work. This would have been a good candidate for an overhead cam or a Contour cam on the table. Not trying to nit-pick, but 60 seconds of soldering where the view is either the back of Eric's hand or a distance shot too far away to see detail is disappointing.
