  • @lucycatism@I worked there from 1986-1990, not at the ahwahnee itself but in security so I got to know pretty much everyone. the best 4 years of my life for sure.

  • @donaldduckpi I worked at the Ahwahnee Hotel from 1991 to 1993. I think I remember them. Was this in your time frame. Great guys, lots of fun.

  • OMG-I miss Phil and Marc (both bellman at the hotel)

  • @TMTGeneralDeath no, though a few of the interiors were used in the movie.

  • Redrum

  • Yes and no. All of the interiors of Colorado's fictitious "Overlook Hotel" in "The Shining" were filmed in fabricated sets at Elstree Studios in London, England, and these sets were based, but not duplicated, from this Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite, National Park, Cali., and the hotel's kitchen was based on the kitchen of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, the hotel which initially inspired the "Overlook Hotel."

  • oh ya i walked in there before! lol i was on a class trip

  • was this the Hotel in The Shining

  • My all-time favorite hotel!

It's a special treat if you can sit at the table located in the small nook at the west end of the large dining hall.

The view from their is priceless, especially during the early spring time when the waterfalls are at the strongest.

I've been going to Yosemite since the late 30s and still get a pleasurable thrill out of the beauty of the park.

Thanks to Finley Holiday for posting ~
