Thanks Jockolantern. There are millions of people who buy Yellowtail and enjoy it. I completely respect them and the choice they make. I hate to think that we are seen as wine snobs. However I do not think it is a well made wine and would prefer to see something that has a genuine story and sense of place behind it rather than being a highly manufactured and marketed commodity product. Time will tell if Yellowtail's success lasts. Thanks again for taking the time to comment. James

Yellowtail is among the very best cheap brands of wine. It doesn't have to be fifty years old or cost $100 to be great wine and Yellowtail proves that; they make for great dinner wines and nice diversions when you crave that Australian spice. Nothing wrong with smokeyness and even less wrong with sweetness in wine; there are plenty of times when a nice, sweet white wine simply hits the palate in a way far better than anything dry. Take your snobbery and stick it where it belongs.
