This is my final torture test for the Samco CL brush type servo amplifier. The original test computer with the Emc2 installation, configuration files, and test programs had an IDE interface failure which ended up taking my whole day to fix. After installing Emc2 on a replacement computer, re-configuring the hal, ini, and PID parameters, writing a new test file, and chasing down 5 or 6 miscellaneous hook up snafus I finally got it to work the way I had envisioned. I believe that it would be possible to use a bus voltage as high as 150vdc which would give some truly serious rapids and outstanding acceleration for a hydrostatic bearing knee mill.
If I retrofit or build another machine I would like to use this amplifier. I will add an auto emergency bus disconnect, and overtemp shutdown before installing it. I am very satisfied with the performance of the amplifier.
I am tired, but satisfied.
Tom
