IL2 Water Landing Tutorial

NOTE: This tutorial is only for the landing stage of an emergency, I do not show you what you should do before taking the decision to land!

This is a tutorial which shows how you can safely land on the water without destroying your plane or killing your crew.

The tutorial can be used as a rule for every aircraft, but throttle % effect may vary on different kinds of planes; 20% are enough for an A-20, but may not for other planes etc.

I hope this is helpful, I am extremely glad if anyone learns from this and becomes better in their water ditching.

Depends on how you look at it. Water is the most treacherous and unpredictable element you can land on, both in the game and in real life - you never know how the plane will react when it hits the water, and you only have one chance to make it right. Landing on land can be so fortunate that you slide on it - on water, you either plow into it or get crushed like it was concrete surrounding your aircraft. :)

Hey is this for pc and hoe much did it cost. Oh and could you lose a wing and stay in the air unlike other flying games where you hit a leaf and blow up and is there a multiplayer.

It is for PC, it is not very expensive, should be in your local store. Look for IL2: 1946. It has a very realistic damage model, every damage may affect the aircraft differently.

Multiplayer is also possible. Remember to download "Hyperlobby" (search for it in google) and 4.08m then 4.09m patches.

Use Hyperlobby program to create an account and fly online with hundreds of other people.

ok this was a perfect ditch in the water but i see 1 problem. how are you going to get home when there is no rescue team coming to get you and you are not able to move your guy after he hits the water.

That isn't much help cause most of the time when u ditch in the water it's in an emergency so u wouldn't do pretty little circles U WOULD BLOODY JUST EJECT

You wouldn't have that time if it was a real emergency and your engines had cut out or there was not enough water.

Good touchdown, by the way! I would of stopped the engines, myself.

@rockyson990 Check out lockon flaming cliffs 2, in that game one of the planes damage models is so advanced half your wing could tear off and you can still fly, hard to control though :P

Just crash it vertically into the water, hit escape and then hit refly. Thats the best way to land in water
