Some of the best-known psych classics from my album collection.

Note that I misspoke when I said that Ultimate Spinach were "another British group"; I meant to say "another Boston group."

1) Fallen Angels (Roulette 1968)
2) Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera (Epic 1968)
3) Kaleidoscope -- Side Trips (Epic 1968)
4) West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band -- Part One (Reprise 1967)
5) United States of America (Columbia 1968)
6) Family -- Music in a Doll's House (Reprise 1968)
7) Beacon Street Union -- The Clown Died in Marvin Gardens (MGM 1969)
8) Human Beinz -- Nobody but Me (Capitol 1968)
9) Idle Race -- The Birthday Party (Liberty 1969)
10) Ultimate Spinach (MGM 1968)
11) Peanut Butter Conspiracy -- Is Spreading (Columbia 1968)
12) Strawberry Alarm Clock -- Incense and Peppermints (UNI 1967)
13) Fever Tree (UNI 1967)
14) Clear Light (Elektra 1968)

  • Your collection is amazing. I am beyond impressed! Thanks for the education in psych rock! Any Frijid Pink in the collection?

  • Uhhh. Hmm. No, actually. I've come across a few copies of their first album but I think each time it was a bit expensive. Plus to be honest I never really liked Frijid Pink all that much, although "Crying Shame" from the first album I like.

  • Do you know where I can find the birthday party album ? I've been lookin for a long time !

  • @daddyknobling Album art is amazing, the saddest part of CD's -> MP3's etc. Well that & the lost subtleties analogous in waves cut short in digitized hype... I miss every pop & click, though few; music was handled mroe respectfully then it seems...

  • Then again, if all you want to do is listen, why not just buy the CD for ten bucks? No record fetishism required, no costs driven up.

  • Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera is an unknown classic gem. "Flames" should have been a huge hit.

  • Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera is a classic, un known gem. "Flames" should have been a huge hit.

  • watched a few of your videos... FYI, it's pronouced rePREEESE not rePRIZE.

  • I think my dad had some of them records and from what I can remember they were pretty cool.

  • That Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera record is one of my favorites. There's something a little more timeless about their sound compared to a lot of the other psych groups. The bass is killer too!

  • @myrecordcollection I didn't know that. Wasn't a fan of theirs. Square.

  • Then again, Roulette was making millions from those Tommy James and the Shondells records well into '69-'70.
