Heston was the ultimate Sci-Fi actor. I grew up watching him in such classics as Planet of the Apes and Soylent Green. Omega Man is one of my all time favorites as well as Planet of Apes. Thanks for uploading the intro of the movie. Brought back great memories as a kid growing in NYC.

great movie, how about the 8-track player, MEMORIES, 1971 L.A.!

This film scared me to death as a kid. Recently bought it on DVD and its actually terrible now. Not aged well at all. Big up to the late Ron Grainer though for a top soundtrack!

I'm glad 8-track comes back in time for the Apocalypse.

.. One Creature, caught. Caught in a place he cannot stir from in the Dark. Alone, out-numbered Hundreds to one. Nothing to Live for but his Memories, nothing to live With but his Gadgets, his Cars, his Guns, Gimmicks. And yet the Whole-Family can't bring him down from that . . . "Honky-Paradise, Brother?"

This is a powerful opening sequence! We are immediately thrust into a strange world, but we discover its strangeness gradually. The initial scenes seem familiar, but then that we begin to notice the odd lack of traffic and pedestrians, which becomes odder and odder as it continues for block after block. The machine gun scene erases any remaining doubt that we are in a strange and alien reality. And then the somber theme music begins, expressing the unconsolable sadness of that strange world!

The opening sequence was filmed very early on Sunday mornings.

The sad thing is that there are parts of Detroit and Suburban Las Vegas where you could film this without having to get the residents to stay out of camera shot!

Charlton Heston would have made a terrific Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. ... the missed opportunities ...
