I have set up this NovaRossi .15 with a 0.10mm head shim, it is running on NO NITRO F.A.I. fuel (80% alcohol and 20% pure castor oil). It has a 3 port cylinder instead of the 8 port and will run without a tuned pipe, as you can see. It is a "Turbo" version with the 3 port cylinder and the #5 TC turbo glow plug long body. You can only get the Turbo in the 8 port configuration and it is running a APC 6.3X3.7 pitch prop. If you want to run Nitro, I would run the #6 glow plug with the long body (turbo) and put the 0.30mm head shim in. These engines were originally a R/C throttled version and now have a 10.7mm open venturi. This one has a 9.9mm, and it now has a 10.7 which was good for an additional 1000 rpm. Please note that the 8 port cylinder must have a tuned pipe or muffler to right. I love these engines!!
Music to my ears, love it! Sweet engine. What's it going to fly in? FF,CL, RC speed..?

I am going to fly it in the GoodYear CL events. I have 2 of these engines and they both run like this. I have the 8 port piped cylinders snd the 3 port open exhaut cylinders w/ spares for both. I also have 3 more of the Rossi MK.3 engines that have never been run (1970's) and the early MK1 and 2 series. all are in excellent condition. I also have a Nelson .15, but I like the Rossi better as it is a easy starting engine. Also, I only run castor oil and NO nitro. FAI fuel.

I wish I could try. I have no way to make the contra piston or head for it. I do have the R/C throttle and a 8 port cylinder (only uses the tuned pipe, which I have. I have two of these engines and two sets of parts for the new pistons and cyl. and throttles and tuned pipes. If you know how to do the contra, let me know!
