It is bigotry, that's the problem. It's the same bigotry that said that a black person and a white person couldn't get married. You make it sound like its no big deal that homosexuals can't get married but it is. Marriage offers a number of social and legal advantages such as; joint custody of children, lower taxes, joint health care, etc. These are very big issues that should be given to any couple whether the be "straight" or "gay" and they want to marry.

Marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman as Obama and Clinton have rightly said. I agree the LGBT community should get provision to share benefits / pensions etc with who they wish BUT NOT MARRIAGE. That is a sacred institution.
