With an estimated 27 million men, women and children living in slavery today, it is evident that something must be done to end this atrocity in our generation. Through the generosity of Charlie and Craig Reid of the Proclaimers Eric Proffitt received permission to re-write the lyrics to their hit song "500 Miles- I'm Gonna Be" to address the issue of child exploitation.

On August 1st 2009, Eric Proffitt used this new song as the theme song for a historic run IN CHAINS from Washington D.C. to New York City to raise awareness of Human Trafficking.

  • Where are these supposed 27 million slaves located?

  • Although there are over 1 million child slaves in India alone, there are also child slaves in every major city across Canada, the United States and most civilized countries. The United Nations estimates about 200,000 new girls being sold into sex slavery in the US alone. I hope this helps- thanks for watching!

  • Eric, you are an inspiration. I know that by shedding light on this sad and horrible situation, we can do something to eradicate slavery. My heart breaks for the little ones caught in such a cycle of despair. Thanks for being their spokesman.

  • If only all of us where this passionate in the fight against slavery!

  • Well done! What a noble cause. How absolutely needed.
