Baboons are the most vicious primates on the planet, but that hasn't stopped Karin Saks from forming a unique bond with them. Having rejected human society, she has been able to enter and gain the trust of wild troops throughout South Africa, even learning to speak their language. But with baboons now regarded as vermin and being shot by farmers, Karin is being forced back into human contact as she desperately tries to save their lives.

With Karin as our interpreter and guide, this sensitive and moving documentary offers a unique insight into the life of baboons: from their family structures and feuds to their courtship rituals, turf wars and individual personalities. Karin, with her overwhelming preference for baboon society over human, shows us what it's like to live as one of them.

  • Some people commenting on this video are completely ignorant and really don't seem to have a clue about what is ACTUALLY going on.This is Karin's work - there is nothing weird or strange or twisted in what she does. Baboons are not vicious, mindless killers - they have a place in the African eco-system,like every other species. You need to watch the full video to fully appreciate Karin's selfless dedication to protecting this persecuted and misunderstood primate.

    Keep it up, Kaz.xxx

  • Karin is the most remarkable person I have ever known. What she does is incredible and selfless! Love you K!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATSIBENYA

    BABAITSIIIIBABAAAAAA

  • haha she looks like one of them to

  • can a baboon pay the light bill deh, phone bill deh, or water bill deh?....no so murder dem bludclart

  • I posted the two video clips because of the baboon behaviour shown in Baboon Woman with regard to the Cape Peninsula baboons. Karin does not live in the Cape Peninsula but along the Garden Route. It is important to note that The Cape Peninsula baboons have adapted their behaviour because of the human environment forced on them. Baboons are ahighly adaptive species and behaviour changes depending on environmental factors. See the videos for more info.

  • The baboon hating comments online are a tragic reflection of our inability to accept that we are primates. There is so much self hatred in society that hating yourself extends to hating anyone close and baboons are that - very close to us genetically. Organised religion has a lot to do with the fears people have about themselves.

  • @Hitmanshooter Does pop psychology work for you? If you were more clever, you would firstly notice that you are being led by a film maker with a hidden agenda and then you would realise that if one were to go by the baboon hating comments on the net, and get some idea of the mentality of most of humanity, that it is insane for any person to actually want to live as a brain washed person without any free thinking brain cells.

  • I know Karin personally and this documentary certainly distorts both her personality and her goals in some ways. It is as if her views have been heavily edited to put across the wrong impression.

  • This trailer does not do justice to Karin's work. It does at least highlight something about baboons. Pity that FireCracker needed to sensationalise the facts for this one.

  • @ipwnedurchat Showing your insecurity in the most transparent manner.
