You would have to ask them about the basis for their objections. The meme that poverty is merely "a lifestyle choice" shows a certain amount of ignorance about how the world really works IMHO.
this is an AWARENESS campaign, not a public policy, detailed solutions effort. It's a wonderful effort for celebrities to try to help other people rather than simply promoting their latest movie, book, or business venture. They can reach people the politicians and policy wonks cannot.
I make an effort to be well-informed on what's being said across the political spectrum so I'm hardly a dupe of propaganda. This is a case of people who have the platform of celebrity using it to advance an important goal: reducing needless deaths from extreme poverty and AIDS.
