  • In my humble opinion the work of master Richard Bonsall ranks as being the finest treble voice I have ever had the pleasure of hearing sing.

    .

    Absolutely stunning!

  • I love this boy's voice. It has so much beauty, and he uses it wonderfully.

  • @Mischafour; I concur and add that Ido not know of any other treble that has sung this as slowly as Richard. His voice is as pure as that of the English summer and the yet he is not English but NewZealander. I must while here mention another boy the Great Ernest Lough the very first international boy soprano the one I wanted to emulate, to old now :o)

  • @Mischafour What are the other two? ;) For me Andrew Swait would be up there in that list, along with Lorin and Terry Wey, Anthony Way, Connor Burrowes and pretty much all of the soloists in Libera... :)

  • 'Tis the last rose of summer left blooming alone

All her lovely companions are faded and gone

No flower of her kindred, no rosebud is nigh

To reflect back her blushes and give sigh for sigh

I'll not leave thee, thou lone one, to pine on the stem

Since the lovely are sleeping, go sleep thou with them

Thus kindly I scatter thy leaves o'er the bed

Where thy mates of the garden lie scentless and dead

  • Richard Bonsall is one of my three favorite treble soloists - he was pure, rare genius. I will hazard a guess that this was recorded shortly before voice change, given the distinctly rich, mellow quality of his voice at the time of this recording. His performance of this song is genuinely masterful... rarely will you ever hear it so flawlessly performed by any singer, young or old. Enjoy!

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • Beautiful.

  • I myself am a former boy soprano (now baritone), and oh what memories this brings back! This song was one of my many signature pieces, infact it still is, and i can tell you how thankfull i am that you have uploaded this under-apreciated gem of a recording. Perfection!

  • Perfect.

  • Heavenly!

  • ..and there are many who agree! If you don't already have the CD, it is available at tadpole music.
