Stan Tracey's piano technique is not often seen close up. Most film angles don't capture this fascinating and unique style. This 2 minute solo is a lesson in how to improvise freely with total originality and depth. It's an open blues which Stan changes the title of every gig. This night it was "Midnight In Kowloon". Two nights earlier it was "Midnight In Calgary" etc etc...
recorded at Soho Pizza Express. London. October 18th 2008.
with Clark Tracey - drums and Andy Cleyndert - bass
