@ford32deuce yes you're right.....I'm sure every guy that saw this movie fell in love with Suzie......especially when she tells him "I not dirty street girl"......love that line, this movie is all but forgotten now. I have it on vhs and also have the soundtrack on vinyl. They don't make movies like this anymore......

@MsJune54 I would have given anything to be him!!! Especially, in the earlier scene when she says she forgets her scarf worth 30 Hong Kong dollars. Robert deserves a good ass kicking for not accepting that gift. How could anyone resist those beautiful brown eyes looking up at them?!?!?

He is one of our greatest Kings of cinema.

@amirtoma Dear amirtoma, I hope one day soon you'll be able to view this entire video! It's kind of astonishing, for many reasons. Mr. Holden seems to stretch beyond even his abilities here. The real revelation is marvelous Nancy Kwan, actually her 1st serious film debut! Would that I had the entire film; no such luck! Please look for it! It's truly a gem! Thanks so much for your mention.

No complaint intended to that point of view! Just had so many seem to look beyond its achievement to damn its 1960 sensibility and pretty-pretty view of Suzie's world. It's was romantic comedy with groundbreaking themes and casting for its day-it can be no more. Yet that the performances still charm and touch some reality of relationships after 50 years qualify it as a classic. And if that's your life condensed -all the best with hopes for a sweet (although the movie IS bittersweet) future!
-
@MrCappy4 : Who's complaining? Certainly not me. "The World of Suzie Wong" is my life condensed to 90 minutes.

@FinallyTheNight How many films prior to 1960-or to this day even, are? Like it or not-it ain't no documentary. If you want more "true to-life" grit than this Hollywood romance intended or was able to depict in 1960 --try to find a Hong Kong film from 1985 called "MY NAME AIN"T SUZIE".

@robwasmomsrob -He basicly says "Can I watch!?" Another part of the wonderful teasing humor that any real lovers would have or wish to have-why holden and Kwan are so wonderful together in this film despite its pretty- pretty view of her world and their age difference. Why still, after 50 years, we can laugh and feel its charm and heart.
"Don't go away stay with me".Aww ok William just call me LOL.He's so sweet in this film and looks great. Thanks for uploading.

@MsJune54 Hi MsJune54, Thanks so much for your comment about this scene. Mr. Holden was already a seasoned performer, and Ms. Kwan a relative newcomer, but together their work was so elegant! Wonderful to hear from you!

You're very kind to mention. Sometimes, the most obvious pieces of beauty seem to escape our attention. Happy for your "eagle-eye" for class and elegance! Thanks again!
