Smallville is NOT about romance or Clark's romantic life (or at least, it shouldn't be.) It's about his progression into becoming Superman. Although yes, he loves her and is destined to be with her, he doesn't necessarily need an engagement/marriage to Lois to become Superman.

an average mid season finale for a poor season so far :( I don't give a crap about Lois, give us Darkseid for gods sake!! heck even bring back Zod, GIVE US SOMETHING PLEASE!!

How about you gain some common sense? learn that this a fictional series and they can do Darkseid however they want, and the fact that he is behind the VRA.

Carter never said Darkseid was responsible or present during those dark times in human history what he said was that Evil/Darkness has risen before and everytime a light also rose and fought that darkness away. He meant Darkness as in evil, not Darkseid in particular, this time the darkness is Darkseid as it was once Hitler.

Actually Darkseid is not just an Alien, he is a God. They addressed his state (Cloud) lready they said he just escaped from where he was and he is growing in power by spreading hate and possessing. TPTB have also stated that he will be in his human form, just not yet, which you can understand given that he is a God and having him play a Zod role would diminish him and people would be like "This is Darkseid why isn't he fighting Clark?"

The VRA is more important at this point of time. Darkseid is too much of a threat. I don't see how Icarus was decent. The VRA plotline is outstanding. Buddy, it makes sense to have Darkseid behind all the stuff that happened like the Third Reich, because IT"S A FICTIONAL SERIES!!!! It doesn't matter who started what. As for Darkseid, look at Supernatural Season 5. The devil himself Lucifer was the main bad guy and yet he was in 5 episodes of that season. No one had a problem with that. Grow up

It's just a different version of Darkseid that is not supposed to be like in the comics even though we got some of his minions already. Ever since CC the producers said he won't be the same. Wasn't the whole point of Smallville from its very start to show us something different? If I want to see the original character, I'll read the comics, if I want to see a different adaptation of him, I'll watch Smallville. There's no point to complain about it since their very goal was to make him different.

@KalvinEllis and granted, you're right. this is an adaptation of darkseid, not the thing from the comics or any of the animated series, but when it constantly feels like he barely resembles anything like the original source material it starts to feel like Deadpool from X-men Origins: Wolverine; he's just there to be used for the show's writing purposes.

Darkseid actually is pure evil. As you said this is an adaptation of these characters so everything goes. It's a fictional world so why not Darkseid be responsible for evil stuff in history? Darkseid is not someone who Clark could see something good in or try to save him from himself. Darkseid represents Clark's final challenge before becoming Superman. Because he's too evil and Clark cannot deal with him like he tried with Davis or Zod. I personally love what they do with him so far.

@KalvinEllis see when I said Darkseid is pure evil, what I meant was, he's just a being that's completely evil, he's practically evil incarnated. Like LIVING evil. That's the impression that Smallville continuously seems to give us throughout the season thus far. He doesn't have a body, he corrupts people's hearts, he's referringly just called "The Darkness." To me, it doesn't feel like Darkseid as opposed to just Evil itself with Darkseid's name on it.
