UPDATE TO KAIROS FUNDING CUT
Further to questions asked by Frank Valeriote, MP for Guelph last year and earlier this year and in more direct response to those asked on September 20th, 2010, and answers given by the Minister of International Cooperation, the Hon. Bev Oda, to Mr. Valeriote's questions during Question Period and questions that have been raised at the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, Frank Valeriote and John McKay rose in the House of Commons on December 13th, 2010, on a Point of Privilege asking the Speaker of the House to find the Minister for CIDA in contempt of Parliament. The allegations of contempt of Parliament are based on allegations that the Minister knowingly misled the House in her answers regarding the reasons for the ending of KAIROS funding.
Attached is a copy of Mr. Valeriote's speech given in the House.
The Speaker adjourned debate pending a response from other parties to the allegations.
