C'mon, considering how recently the floresiensis remains were discovered (and nicknamed) it seems obvious that this is a Tolkien reference, despite the theme of the game. IE, Nedry set himself up a Tolkien-themed password or some such.

If we're to entertain the thought, even if Jurassic Park researchers had discovered homo floresiensis remains before anyone else, what would be the odds that they'd give it the same nickname?

Of course its a Tolkien reference in the game.

But I had in mind that the plot of Jurassic deals with genetic engneering. And the writers of the Trespasser story didn't know about the Homo floresiensis.

I found it quite amusing that someone makes a joke about a artifical "produced" hobbit race and few years later (by pure random) a Hobbit-like (as close as the reality can get)species is discovered, which could revive this

Now that I think of it, some other games in 1997 weren't as developed as this game. I mean in reference to games like Daggerfall or Quake 2. Daggerfall had terrible graphics compared to Trespasser. Still, it had a better story.
