Sculpture Space at EFA, September 5, 2008

Group show featuring Abraham Ferraro, Jae Hi Ahn, David Bowen, Carlos Ferguson, Wennie Huang, Takafumi Ide,Las Hermanas Iglesias, Beth Krebs, David McQueen, Sterz, Jina Valentine, Maria Velasco.
These artists have recently participated in residencies at the Sculpture Space in Albany, NY. The show takes place at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts gallery in New York City.
Among the highlights of the show for me was seeing the output of Abe Ferraro's Stationary Climber, and elaborate construction that allows the artist to climb an artificial rock wall which moves in sync with the climber, making the climber appear stationary. The entire apparatus is attached to a jig that transfers the climber's motion into a circular drawing. At the show, Abe installed a video of the climber, along with drawings produced in the process.
Also, I'm sorry I didn't get it on video, Maria Velasco created cupcakes with ornate script lettering for the attendees to consume.
This was a really fun show to see.
