Ray Noble & His Orch., voc. Al Bowlly - How Could We Be Wrong? (Foxtrot from "Nymph Errant") (Cole Porter), His Master's Voice 1933
NOTE: „Nymph Errant was a musical comedy in two acts, written (music and lyrics) by Cole Porter. The story, based on the novel by James Laser, is about pretty Evangeline (Gertrude Lawrence) who is fresh out-of-boarding school girl, desperately looking for someone to loose her innocence with. Her quest takes her to the beach at Neauville, the „Cafe du Dome in Paris, a palazzo in Venice and a harem in Turkey — without an ounce of success. Returning home dejected and defeated, she receives an unexpected and welcome proposition from the family gardener. Tryouts began September 11, 1933 at The Opera House, Manchester, England and the opening was October 6, 1933 at the Adelphi Theatre, London. The play ran for 154 performances.
Another Cole Porter's awesome song from that play (A Physician) sung by Gertrude Lawrence in person, can be found in You Tube at http://pl.youtube.com/watch?v=8P2bB7qOyrg

I am a big fan of Al Bowlly. Started to hear of him when the goodnoght sweetheart program started to mention his name. Many e-bay purchases since, I have almost all of his and Ray Nobles tunes on cd. Thanks for posting this fantastic performance.

A immaculate performance by Noble and Bowlly and what good sound reproduction on HMV - an expensive buy during the Depression years but worth the money.
