DIY Guide To PC Torture Episode III: "Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Motherboards"

Episode III came to be after we discovered a use for unwanted and outdated PC hardware. The application of 240V AC mains power to strategic ... all » positions on the boards resulted in showers of sparks and produced nasty electrical noises (take our word for it, don't try this at home).

Episode III features all-new footage since Episodes I and II including hard-drive-meets-sledehammer scenes. Out of interest the hardware all belonged to the era of the 386 and earlier, with some 486 parts thrown in after I had assembled what I could into complete systems. The hard drives were all dead, or soon-to-die low capacity Quantum ProDrives = ).

We apologise for the auto-brightness and auto-focus evident in many of the clips. The explosions were filmed using a prehistoric JVC handycam.

No animals were harmed in the production of this video [ although it came pretty close ]

Ep 4 comming soon!

  • The phrase "use in a well ventilated area" should be attached to this video. Those fumes are poisonous, containing such wonders as cadmium, mercury, arsenic, lead, copper, selenium etc. let alone PCBs, PTFE etc. all turned into an easy inhaled form :)
