Aria de Mezzo Carattere - Final Fantasy VI Opera Scene

The opera scene in Final Fantasy VI ( FFIII in US/EU ) where Celles dresses up as a famous opera singer called 'Maria' inorder to lure Setzer to capture her.

In my oppinion, this was the best FF3 scene and I personally love the song. But then again, that's me ^^

Sorry to be "that guy," but I just wanted to point out in the description you refer to the game as FFIII in Europe, but it only came out there as FFVI (since the SNES version wasn't released there).

how do people cry at this? It honestly makes me laugh how she sounds like a quiet foghorn. Not to mention theres nothing to get sad at...its a Opera...this is just based off a story...not like the girl just lost her love...sure its happened...but its a pretty damn cliched story! You see a heart tugging screen...I see pointless filler. Then again the song is great, and if they redid it with a actual voice instead of melodic moaning..well maybe Id get where the emotion is.

@NemesisTheZombieKing honestly its probably a combination of things, the first being that the novelty of a 'voice' singing out of the SNES was novel and new, but if you listen to the music on a stereo insted of TV speakers, its music sounds HUGE.

But probably the bigger factor behind the emotional response is people who've played the game -know- this theme is reprised later when Celes throws herself off a cliff in desperate loneliness. It makes an impact.

@MezaseMaster FFVI was never released in the EU as FFIII, the first final fantasy released in Europe was FFVII we got FFVI in 2000/2001 as a standalone PS1 game released as Final Fantasy VI

@FFfreakepic03 Well said! There are small pieces of the original masterpieces woven into the new Final Fantasy games, but nothing that is truly as memorable as the first seven games.

@NemesisTheZombieKing Look up The Black Mages: Darkness and Starlight. There's a 15 minute version of this exact scene with 3 very respectable opera singers playing the 2 male leads and the female lead. There's also a theatrical version of this that occurred on stage at one of the concerts in Japan. Look it up on YouTube.

@sandune02 No I understand that, but I was pointing out that jump didn't happen in Europe, because they didn't get the Super Nintendo Final Fantasy games.
