We just rescued this Malayan / Malaysian Box Turtle from a dry tank of wood chips, where she was being fed live fish. She has an ear infection, and I'm setting up a tank for her to swim in. This is her soaking and eating some greens.

  • For anyone who wants to email a nasty, name-calling note about how Box Turtles don't swim, check your facts first. A little research goes a long way. American box turtles regularly submerge themselves to soak in water, and Asian box turtles are highly aquatic and SWIM. Thanks.

  • what is she eating exactly? i have the same turtle, just wanted to get ideas.

  • When we got ours, he was living in woodchips and would just bury himself in them all day. His claws where completely overgrown and two had broken off. I identified him by looking in a turtle book and made the switch. He's doing awesome now.

  • ya mine before inhis dry tank wouldnt eat anythting and now he is active and eats alot

  • Yes! If you google Malayan Box Turtle you will find some helpful sites on caring for them. People don't realize they are supposed to be in aquatic environments, so they are often mistakenly kept in dry habitats. Mine was living in woodchips when we got him and completely miserable!

  • lol some people think box turtles are land turtles but if they were they would be a tortoise but their sumiaquatic
