I hope that Al Di Meola could forgive me and excuse my attempt to play one of his wonderful songs. Di Meola is one of greatest guitar players of all times, perhaps the greatest. This masterpiece joins togheter several Di Meola techniques, one of which is the partially muted strings on about half the notes played.

I wish to dedicate this musical effort to: my wife Monica (it's a mandolino !?), Corrado Paonessa (my greatest maestro), Jack Raia (from Sicilia), Francesco Fareri (a great guitar player).

For guitar players, that's how I did it: no tabs, no videos, all played notes exclusively found by my ears. And the backing piano ? Well, I have used a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT filter) on frequencies around 440 hz to remove Al guitar from the original song and get the piano :-)

  • Well played! Was quite brave of you to tackle this piece. Every nuance is audible, the guitar is very present in the original, and in your rendition even more so. You more or less pulled it off, though.

  • @derritrane :-)

  • really GOOD job. for us less gifted, its really nice to see how this great song is played. I cant find tab anywhere for this and you have made a good starting point for me to try and learn how to pl;ay this song.

Keep up the good work! :)

  • hey I wanna thank you for your comment :-)

and thx again for putting my TTT video on your channel's favorites !!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to add you to my friend list (accept my invitation if you like it...)

    cheers

  • Your playing lacks a bit of confidence, but the technique is there, no doubt. I think you were just nervous recording it in front of the camera. Very good job.

Don't mind the negative comments of others. People who log on the internet to display agressive behavior have a problem with themsleves, don't worry about it.

    Post more videos !

  • thanx 4 your comment

probably you've read the entire conversation with Noxicoe... I'm not happy of such things... I've tried to be gentle and nice with him but he didn't left me chances to be not aggressive like he did with his negativity...

music and guitar for me always represented a joy, a pleasure... I'm not on youtube to challenge or to show my tech on guitar... I'm here only to share with you and other people... that's all :-)

thank you again for your consideration

  • Nice job with this. I recently posted my rendition of Al Dimeola's Dark Eye Tango. I love trying to play this challenging music!.

  • you should work at timing, but fine!

  • Cool cover, it sounds pretty close to the original, keep playin and check my vids anytime!

  • Umm...did you finish it - it seems there was a bit more to it...

  • Well played and thanks for the visual tip on how best to do that "monster run" just passed the middle...well done. I think the monster run was the one thing that might have scared you a bit as it seemed a touch rushed and a tad less clear than the rest but i imagine you've worked those kinks out.

Again, well done...I am trying not to let the fact that EVERYONE wants to play DiMeola discourage me...:)

  • It could use slight improvement.
