what the hell were these 'economic merits' of the new deal? It accomplished nothing, except maintaining unemployment around 20%, squandering vast capital and resources, forcing food rationing, introducing and keeping permanent big government spending agencies that are unproductive and hamper the market.

I think a large portion of the protesters in DC would NOT agree with Mises and in fact are against the kind of freedom Mises would approve. Although they were all anti-government, many also believe that we should be some kind of Christian nation and that The Bible trumps The Constitution.
