Wow, I was the biggest Skeets fan in middle school. Couldn't wait to get Sports Illustrated, the sports section, ANYTHING with him in it or on the cover. Would love an autographed poster to show off. I'm floored this man was GOLD to us as children. Nobody had his form or class. Blessings to you Skeets!!
pound for pound the strongest athlete in the world. I saw him on some "worlds strongest" show and he was kicking butt on guys 100 lbs bigger. I think he weighed 185 or so, C. 1985. And he walked on the NFL field and kicked butt. But....some defensive players seemed to have him in their sights. I remember it like that.
The Ali-Frazier of the 110's from back in the day. Loved the fued between "Skeets" and Greg Foster.
NX Level, sho you right. I'm old school. Graduated high school in 1981. Ran the 110s and 300m hurdles and could never get enough of Nehemiah. Foster could never touch him. I think Foster beat him once? Twice? He always seemed to make Greg smash into hurdles.
Great rivalry though. I bet it still drives Foster crazy to this day.
I ran in a heat against Renaldo in high school (Governor Livingston RHS). I was just getting out of the starting blocks as he crossed the finish line..at least it seemed that way..lmao..he was smooooth! Looks like he still is....
I have an 11 yr old son that just started running hurdles this year. He's an elite football player who is running track for the first time. In his 3rd race ever he placed 1st in the AAU District Qualifiers in the 80m hurdles (14.15) and is now the fastest in the region. The morning of the meet I showed him clips of Skeets and he was totally PUMPED! You have truly touched his athletic soul! It's amazing that you were my idol growing up and now his.
I felt very sorry for Renaldo when they boycotted the 1980 Olympic
