The story is set in 2051, 19 years after alien "Apostles" launched a war that reduced mankind to just 12 survivors. The ultimate weapon, Black Rock Shooter, awakens to face off against the seven Apostles and their countless mecha. Kazushige Nojima (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Last Order Final Fantasy VII) is writing the scenario and Kazuya Niinō is directing the project.

that I got from the BRS PV was that she was a girl with unexplained supernatural abilities wandering a dead world only occasionally encountering monstrous creatures and survivors of whatever event killed the world. If that wasn't the case then why did they show her riding a motorcycle?

Well personally I didn't find it an abomination, just a letdown. While it was entertaining on it's own, it just didn't live up to the impression the music video gave me. Even though the anime is what Huke intended BRS to be, it doesn't mean it's sacrosanct. A medieval-era novelist named Umberto Eco once wrote, "A narrator should not supply interpretations of his work; otherwise he would not have written a novel, which is a machine for generating interpretations." That said, my impression of BRS

one of my friends is a total BRS fan so once she told me about it, I was able to tell the OVA, anime and game BRS apart
