March 27, 2010 - State Senator Dan Debicella (R-Shelton) voted against the Democrats' FY 2010 deficit mitigation package due to its overreliance on increased taxes to close the projected $500 million shortfall.
The Democrats' proposal to close the budget gap included just 20% in real spending cuts leaving the remainder to a combination of increased taxes (50%) and deferred payments (30%) including underfunding state pension plans by $100 million.
