The former Irish Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has defended the decision his government took in 2002 to cap at €127million the contribution of Irish religious orders to the State compensation scheme for victims of church abuse. In an interview with Irish journalist Karen Coleman, Mr Ahern said he had no regrets about the deal that was struck during his tenure as Taoiseach. Irish opposition politicians are calling for a review of the deal. They want the religious orders to pay more money to the compensation scheme.

  • Bertie says people talkiing down the Catholic Church are welcome to it. Yeah just like the Catholic Church was welcome to the arses of a generation of Irish boys.

They only got away with it because of the complicity of useless fuckers like you Bertie.

  • They're the political wing of the Catholic Church, the GAA, the IFA, the vintners and of course the CIF

    Basically a collection of fuckers.

  • A priest gets shot ,and rushed to hospital,he regain's consciousness,to find a nurse next to him,he gentley says to her"Nurse am i in Heaven?",to which the nurse replies "No Father, were just taking a shotcut through the childrens ward"....

  • This clown was/is the sick emissary of the dirty little vatican. A state which has OCCUPIED Ireland for centuries resulting in a population which elects cunts like Bertie Ahern. It makes my blood boil to hear some commentators say that we now have to go 'cap in hand' to the IMF/ECB when our 'politicians' had to go 'cap in hand' to the vatican before introducing legislation...for decades.

A nation of god-fearing clowns will only ever get the politicians it deserves.

  • @TheFutureadvocate English is obviously not a strong one for you, choose another apart from the defunct gaylick!

  • @MrBigfatbloke Sorry what? That was just gibberish.

  • @TheFutureadvocate Funny thing is, it is common knowledge within Stormont, that our Bertie is diddling not only a protestant, but she is also a Unionist politician!

  • Bertie Ahern may well be the antichrist

  • @TheFutureadvocate Don't be stupid & stubborn son

  • @yam500 You on the other hand are obviously quite the towering intellectual.

I'll leave you with the last word,i won't be reading it.Stay out of trouble grandad...

  • @JESUStheATHEIST1 spot on. They discourage people to think for themselves and the politicans use that to their advantage. I worry about the Irish people that they won't learn from all thats happened on the Island in the last 100 years with Child Molestation, Terrorism, Corruption, Religious Abuse, Alcohol Abuse etc.
