Video shot on a beautiful warm day in Basel a few weeks ago. I used my brandnew JVC GY-HM 100 and a Sony HDR HC-1. Letus Mini on the Sony and the JVC on a Glidecam 2000. We had a great afternoon in the garden....
Edited on FCP with Magic Bullet Looks applied to all the clips.
Music was composed and sung by myself a few years ago. (String arrangements by Sonia Slany)

  • Does a person have to zoom in a lot to eliminate the vignetting with the letus?

  • Depending on the lens you'll have to zoom into the image more or less. In any case never that much that it'll turn a 28mm into a 50mm or similar.

  • The Glidecam seems really smooth - would it still work with a full Redrock assembly mounted?

Was the DOF all due to the Letus Mini? No Redrock used at all? I am not familiar with it, but looking it up it certainly seems much less cumbersome than the Redrock.

I think the shot of the empty wicker chair, shifting focus from the closest to the farthest side was a wonderful illustration of the capability, with an abstract feel to it.

  • The shallow deph of field was done exclusively with the Letus mini on the Sony. Now that I have an 46mm to 37mm step-down adapter I can attach the Letus Mini to the JVC, which is what I alway wanted: Handheld use, choice of DOF, 25p and tapeless workflow. the JVC records in Quicktime format, so you simply pull the clips into the Final Cut Pro timeline and off you go. To me that´s the dream combination...until the Red-Scarlet maybe....

  • The cat is really lovely :)

  • What a ramble about nothing! Let us suppose that he is off pitch: will that make you happy? It is obvious to me that people without this so called gift have more prospects to have a successful musical career than any of the perfect pitch people. It is evident that their absolute ear is only good for nagging about the insignificant imperfection of the hard working, non-perfect-pitch people's successful work. Perfection belongs not to this world. I prefer human quality to technical perfection.
