Two totally different personalities. His many romantic gestures ... the pain & plans he put into each event to create a personal nuance that would mean something to her almost seems lost on her & it wasn't her playing vacant miss either. She never came across as someone who went out of her way to create the same romantic tone as him - no special presents or words or events of her own making. She was shallow...pretty but empty.
