With the new points of emphasis this year this is now a team control foul since the team has control when the ball is placed at the disposal of the thrower-in. The proper call should have been a team control foul. Either way they have the same consequence.

  • Thanks...Yeah, with the Points of Emphasis this year it should have been a team control foul. Same repercussions either way with the call! Haha...

  • lmao referee wasnt even looking at the two players on the court but called the right call .. need to be more emphatic with a play like that .. i got into d2 and d3 mens ncaa at the age of 21 as a basketball referee , i am now 23 on the brink of d1 .. have a few tryouts this summer

  • @AllPurposeGamer

Me tooo. like thousands of times.. !!! haha lol

  • @phil1980boy I don't remember what the question was...but based on your answers it sounds like we're talking about a blarge. NFHS and NCAA Men's rules state a blarge is a double foul. If the ball was already released when the fouls occurred, then the ball is still live, so if it goes in the basket, it would count. You would continue POI. If you work NCAA Women's ball, then your response to #1 would be correct--but only in women's ball.

  • @fbbbbareferee That's an easy question.

1.Decide who primary area the call was in and go with what ever that ref call.

    2. If it was A player control, no basket, ball out on the baseline.

    3. If it was A block what I would do is wave off the basket, report the block and take the basketball out on the baseline. . It would be hard to sale an and 1 with the BLARGE situation.

That's what I would do to keep my assigner happy and each coach off my back.

  • Mechanics were not good but the call was. Can't complain at all. Good call. To make it more simple just call it A push. The Ref singled A player control foul when it was A team control foul.

  • @fbbbbareferee OK sorry I was talking about this video. No worries the debate kinda kept going back forth between this video and a different point.

  • @fbbbbareferee Depends...is the PC foul before or after the ball is released? A blarge is a double foul and all double fouls go to the POI. If the blarge happened after the ball is released, the POI is either the arrow on an unsuccessful shot or an unrestricted endline throw-in for team B if the shot is made. If the blarge occurred while there was TC, then the POI is a throw-in for the team in control of the ball

  • @AllPurposeGamer Well, I'm glad we got that cleared up. And let's just throw one more wrench into this. THE BLARGE. One official calls a block, the other officials calls a player control foul. The ball goes in the basket. How is it administered?

  • @fbbbbareferee I was saying if an airborne shooter released the ball, then committed a foul subsquently afterward but before he returned to the floor, it would be a PC foul...not a team control foul. A player control foul is a common foul committed by the player in control of the ball or committed by an airborne shooter who has yet to return to the floor.

  • @fbbbbareferee I agree with you and that was what I was trying to tell chitownref...there's no team or player control but due to the fact it's a foul committed by an airborne shooter it's still a PC foul. And all PC fouls mean that no points can be scored (though they could be awarded, but that's a different case), and that no FTs would be awarded to the opponent under any circumstances.
