  • I sure hope she sounds better live, because I personally don't think she does this song justice in this recording.

  • @operagirlify

i think that overall she does a fine job throughout the entire opera, although one could easily find someone else who sings the arias better.

  • Wobbles are not staccatos. Lacking in precision and refinement, but nice vigour.

  • mesmerizing :)

  • @Operaphile or cecilia bartoli!

  • SHE IS REALLY GOOD, its just that Bartoli has made it impossible for anyone eles to touch this without looking bad

  • Horrible! Should have called Simone Kermes or Diana Damrau!

  • She was fabulous live in the opera house and also on the HD film of the live performance. Can't imagine it better. This does not do justice at all.

  • I don't think this recording does her justice at all, or maybe it caught her on a bad day. She sang this much better when I saw this opera live. She has nice stage presence too. :)

  • ridiculous!

  • I have seen de Niese sing live and her voice is quite small. No way does she sound like this live. Second the whole concept is a mish mash of a bit of this and a bit of that and far too long. The Met concentrated on visual entertainment more than anything else. Visually it was amazing and David Daniels was fantastic but as a whole (particularly musically speaking) it was way too long, disjointed and very often quite tedious. It would have been a lot better had it been about 45 minutes shorter.

  • @asdfopera you're right about the arias, but in my ponion that's not all. I think she did a fabulous overall job including especially the acting.
